SXSW 2011 Free Show Guide

South by Southwest, an annual music and film festival held in Austin, Texas, launched just a few days ago, but it’s not too late to join in on the fun! While a majority of the venues require a purchased wristband for admission, there are still plenty of free shows around the area to enjoy. Here’s a guide to some free, all ages shows we find worth checking out!

Entrance to this SXSW party is free with RSVP on Do512 (check out the RSVP page here).
The Midgetmen, who calls themselves slop-punk mavens, will be hosting this party at Hole in the Wall, a bar on Guadalupe and near the UT campus. Other acts are listed below and consist of various indie bands. The anticipated band for this show is Hollerado. They have a really cool and creative music video, “Americanarama,” which won a jury award in the 2011 SXSW Film Awards for music videos. Check it out!
