It’s time for sleep deprivation, exhaustion and sweaty bodies, but it’s all worth it for three days of musical ecstasy. Today marks the beginning of the seventh annual Fun Fun Fest at Auditorium Shores in Austin, Texas.
With three music stages, orange, blue and black, music-thirsty fans can wander from one end of the park to the other and hear music on opposites ends of the spectrum. Fans can expect mosh pits, heavy riffs, crowd surfing and everything in between punk and metal at the black stage. This year, Refused, Turbonegro and X headline the black stage.
RUN DMC, A$AP Rocky and Girl Talk headline the blue stage, which is better known for its hip-hop and rap performers.
The orange stage seems to fit everything else in between the other genres, but primarily focuses on indie rock. This year the featured headliners are Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, Public Image LTD., and Explosions in the Sky.
Though FFFFest is known for its alternative music and independent music lineup, it still has one more hidden gem: the yellow stage. It’s more like the “other” category, which includes comedy and other random activities, like a veggie-eating contest. Among the performers are David Cross (better known for his character as Tobias on Arrested Development) and Austin’s own JT Habersaat of the Altercation Punk Comedy Tour. You’re going to want stop by this stage for the taco cannon. Shoot me a taco, please!
