The Skies Revolt (Michigan) and Sick/Sea (McAllen, TX) , who recently finished up their fall tour, played in Austin on November 15 with Dead Peasants and Natalie Atwater at the Radical Organization for Organic Teaching and Sustainability, or R.O.O.T.S. Check out the photos below!
An overbooking issue led to a venue change from Headhunters (now Metal and Lace) to R.O.O.T.S., which meant quickly transforming the self-sustaining community’s backyard into a venue complete with a stage, projected images, and a neat little sign that read “Rootsapalooza.” The night and the cold came by the time the show got going, and we were happy to see a large bonfire in the back radiating its friendly heat.
Memorable moments: Natalie Atwater performing an acoustic set on top of a school bus, the mosh pit for Dead Peasants, and the cat that didn’t want to leave the porch seat (until The Skies Revolt started playing with it). It was a fun show with a great, laid back atmosphere.
This was the first music event hosted by R.O.O.T.S. EcoVillage, who plan to have more in the future.
